Greetings chaps for all you who may be wondering The Arno and Sheraton lathe arrived at Newport Last Sunday. Other attempts to move the beasties proved fraught with hazard. So with the opportunity of mates rates I bit the bullet and paid for transport. It was accomanied by a sense of relief when the two machines arrived at Newport so this is my Xmas present. Yours 4-6-4

Hi,
Good to see you got them there safe even if it did cost you a little coin. Cost me $300 to move my mill but it was very relaxing compared to moving my lathe with a ute and an engine crane.
They look like they'll clean up well. Do you have a vertical head?

Greetings Chaps. The Arno has everything. ie vice rotary table dividing head Vertical head boring head and a collet head it does not have a rapid traverse. They were sold to schools by Demco for 1600 pounds. The Sheridan has a top speed of 800 revs so it must be an older version. I will post pics when they are finally in place. I have worked the Arno and it was like heaven on a stick. Oh it has a two axis digital readout. Yours 4-6-4

Greetings chaps, Both machines were shifted down to 12 road at Newport now it remains to have 2 older machines moved so these two can be wired up. Can,t wait to get the mill organized. 4-6-4.

Yes chaps I am a volunteer at Newport in West Block of the old workshops. Simon especially is salivating over the Arno. The are a number of jobs lined up for it. I do not have space for a heavy workshop at home so Newport with its 3 phase is ideal. Also there are not enough of us machinist types involved. One job being done at the moment is boring out the axel boxes for the A2. For those that know it the A2 is actually moving on towards completion. I may not see it but it is happening. The machine involved is a Bullard Vertical Borer. Will get pics.

If your using the Bullard do you have much trouble indexing the turret,I suppose it would depend on the size of bar your using but I find with the indexing they are a bit more difficult or fiddly than a W&B.
