Can someone clarify the difference between these two items, if any? I'm thinking of buying one and I'd like some advice on what to look out for. I'm at the budget end on the price range. I've seen them advertised (6") around $500 dollars and more than double that for new. Are the cheaper ones (presumably from china) OK?

Appreciate the feedback.

Andrew, buzzer is American, jointer English.
Same machine, different name.

Check that the tables and fence are flat and straight. All adjustments should move freely and be able to be locked in place. There should be no noise from bearings.

we have had an 8" jointer from Taiwan for 7yrs and have had no dramas.
