OK maybe not the best title for this bowl, but better than "yet another bowl".
I have been out in the shed experimenting again, nothing fantastic but it is new to me.
Made from Tulip wood and about 8" diameter and 2" tall

Digger, very nice whirlpool bowl, is it a convex bottom?
BTW, next month I jump into a real whirlpool at one of the many subtropic parks here in Holland:)

Thank you both

Ad no it is flat bottomed on the inside and have left the chucking recess as it is only shallow

Very nice. May I ask how you put the whirlpool effect on the rim please.

I like the treatment of the Rim, I would hazard a guess that it was done with a router , prior to finishing the rim .:2tsup::2tsup::2tsup:.

The piece is well done and the routed rim sets the otherwise plain timber off.

I like it very much:2tsup::2tsup:

I like the piece as well. :2tsup:

The routed design on the rim give it movement. Just trying to work out (if it's a whirlpool) whether it's a Northern or Southern hemisphere Coriolis effect.:;

Thanks all
Yes the rim was done using a router and a circle jig I made. The outside was shaped the bowl turned and the top of the rim cut leaving the inner bowl part so as to have somewhere for the point on the circle jig to sit. The rim was marked out and then the lines routed, rest of the bowl was turned out and everything finished as normal.
