G'Day Bob, Billy did one back in 2009.
Here's the thread below; I'm not sure if that helps.
You could "PM" Billy with your questions.
Cheers, crowie

I've added the thread below; it might help.
You could always "PM" Billy with your questions, he seems a good bloke.

Hi Rob
I was the maker of Billy's Blade. If you look at Post #79 it says a namless builder in Vic made it for him.

I dont know if it is true to the plan, but it looks simular I think.
I just cut the flat sides on the table saw over size. Put the curve in it with the 3" drum on my bobbin sander. When it looked reasonable,I sanded the flat sides on the disc sander till they looked OK Maybe 15 minutes all up .I didnt put the end caps on it.I thought Billy might have done that, but it still looks OK on the model Well I think it is OK:D

The best way to cut the cove is on a table saw (for me at least). I did this dozer 8 months or so ago and cut the cove this way but didn't really follow the dimensions off the plan, just winged it :) Hard to explain how to do with a table saw however the following link demonstrates it well:

Cove cutting on the table saw (http://woodgears.ca/cove/index.html)

Hope this helps, let me know if you get stuck.

Ok, will dig through my photo library. Made it for a Christmas prezzie so if I can pry it away from the recipient, I'll take some more photos. Essentially made from tassie oak and red gum.

I'm about to start the grader from gatto so might do a WIP ;)

Plus, I'm working on this (http://woodworkbyscott.com/).

I'll have to make a visit to the recipient of the dozer to take a pic, the one I;ve got is of the dozer in the background. Going around there on the w/e.

thanks crowie thats why i like this site everybodys always willing to help and pass on there knowledge and tips to make the job easier ,has for the dozer blade it was a bit hairy to start with on the tablesaw but as long as you only take 16th at a time its okay didnt take that long either bob

Yeah, sorry Bob, I didn't warn you about cutting a cove on the table saw being a little bit scary. But it sounds like you did it the right way (taking small bites) which is the way to go. Push sticks are also the way to go doing it this way.

I like it! And now I know how to make the blade when I get ready to tackle this one. Bob what is the large wheel for? Another model you already started on. Man you are a machine building these things. Where do you keep them all?

hi bret the dozer blade was fairly easy to make once it was explained to me

the big wheels you see i made was for a monster truck i was going to make but they are scrap now all the treads chipped out on the table saw so that projects been put on hold for now bob

Wolf,

The Ridgid OSS is ONE of the best tools I have bought for making toys!!! And at $199 you get 5 different spindle sizes and a 4" belt sander. Lol
