My Djembe project has been on hold because my existing toolgate is not long enough to enable me to properly finish the inside.

Standard Irons Toolgate.

Down to the local steel merchant and for the huge sum of $24.75 I had 3 1x125 dia cut off discs a piece of 75x75x10 angle iron 400mm long and a 150mm length of 20mm dia. BMS. I chose 75 mm angle iron because it gives me the correct centre height.

Half an hour with the angle grinder and I've got the shape I want, only used one disc (those super thin cutting discs are perfect for this sort of work).

A trip over to 's to stick it together.

Drill an 8mm hole for the cradle, job done.

The only thing stopping me from finishing the djembe now is that it's beer-o-clock :D.

Nick, I gave it a quick test this arvo and it appears to be working quite well. To be honest I was expecting a bit of harmonics to creep in but it is quite solid. I'm going to need to drill some extra 8mm holes to allow for repostioning of the saddle.

Very Nice!

How many small fires were started in 's shop with the hot steel sparks.

Or was Tea Lady on standby with a bucket of water.

I like the look of this,

Have you Patented the idea or can I make one.

Consider it "open source":D. Feel free to copy and make any improvements to the design.

Added the extra holes to allow for repositioning the cradle.

Gee a bit slack there. Your holes are not central :)
