Hi

I checked the flanged motor mount on my DM 45 .It is a standard B5 mount with a pitch circle diameter of 165mm

Question: I can buy a 2 hp 3 phase motor with the B5 flange , with either in a cast iron or aluminum body for the motor . Considering it mounts to the top of the gearbox, which would be better in terms of vibtation dampening ? heavy cast iron or lighter aluminum ?

The other question: how many poles is best for the VFD ..there are 2 , 4, 6. or 8 pole motors available ?

thanks for the replies

Mike

If motor should be balanced so it shouldn't need any dampening, but I would go the aluminium on because you have to tilt the head and things can get heavy up there.

Have a chat with them at Royce Cross about your requirements, they are good to deal with.
