Hi guys,

A custom fabrication I am designing requires a partition (say 6" x 10" x 1/2" ) to be quickly slotted in to a metal toolbox. A method which would suit the design would be to have some 'pins' welded/riveted to the side walls of the box. The partition would then slot in via 'L' shaped cutouts in the side walls of the partition. When the box lid goes on it would push down on the partition, holding it in place.

I have no idea what to enter for a google search. Are there any existing products/designs/parts/names for this that anyone can think of?

Cheers
Steve

Hi Steve, first off welcome to the forum.:2tsup:
There are dowel pins which are hardened and ground pins, but for your application I would think something like stainless steel rod would be better so it didn't rust.
What does it have to attach to?

Hi Dave, yes i'm making it from stainless steel, I think I've solved the problem. Well, actually I think I just needed to type out what I needed.. as in my first post. I have since found a 'bayonet' image that has cemented in how I will go about it. Thanks for the reply.. it always amazes me how helpful people are on forums :U

No problem, if you can, post up your idea when you work it out as it may give other members ideas of how to go about it.
