Hi Seasoned Pro's.

RE Series 2000 Workcentre

I just spent the past half hour pulling my hair out..!

I'm in the process of setting up the Saw in Cross Cut mode, having followed the destruction manual to a tee.. (Please don't ask if I've watched the Video..refer to a previous thread http://www.woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/showthread.php?t=14806

I set the height of the Aluminium table support rails according to my 235mm Makita.. Flipped the Saw right way up, slid the table in and locked in its posi... So far so good...

My blade should be 'just' entering the table slot, which is obvoious..but my blade is some 35mm 'Above' the table...

A) Yes, my saw is 235, not 184
B) Yes the saw is lowered completely...
C) Yes I can counter this by just lifting the rails up to the right height, but surely thats not the best option...

Any clues anyone... before I go bald....

I just lowered the the front & back below the 235 mark until the blade just entered the table and did not bother with the 235reading.

firstly, can you tell us, when the saw is in normal table mode, how much blade is above the table at full height.

I figured out the problem, well, 30 of the 35mm..! I removed the saw and realised that the depth guide on the saw it self was still in the last postion that I had used it as a hand saw..! Having re-adjusted, I'm still about 5mm out, eg, not low enough, so I'll take your advice Barry and just raise the rails to suit..

Unless you can figure out where my other 5mm have come from...

That's where I was headed. It had to be on the saw. I wouldn't worry about 5mm, my Triton Saw has the height winder kit and so it doesn't match the 235 mark exactly either. A few mm won't make any difference but I'd suggest you'll have more success crosscutting with a home made crosscut sled. I hardly ever change modes anymore, too much hassle removing the dust bag etc. Do a search in this forum and you'll find all the details. :D ;)

I only used the crosscut mode while setting up the saw then bought the ETA 300 sliding table and have not used the crosscut mode either.
