Salt and Pepper Grinder mechanism to suit one-handed person?

Anyone know if these exist?

I know there are plastic pepper grinders out there for people who can only use 1 hand, but I want to make one out of timber, for someone.

Aside from buying a plastic one and ripping it apart to get the mechanism, are there any other options?

That's doable, but not preferrable. The recipient wouldn't be too keen on a battery powered grinder. hand power is preferable.

One wonders how a one handed person would go about it. Hmm, this one I gotta see.

I have seen grinders that have a trigger that could be pulled one handed. I haven't ever seen the mechanisms though, so you would have to dissassemble one.

Hey Peter, these are what the intended recipient currently uses (quite successfully). it would be nice to replace them with something made of timber (hence the post).

yes i could buy a couple more and pull them to bits, but was wondering what other options I might have.

I've also seen something similar to the ones petersemple showed but there was only one handle pushing out the side that you had to push in. (Bit more like a bicycle handle and brake? you can put one over it and just pull the lever in to grind. They are NOT battery driven, The lever runs the ratchet to grind, so you get hand exercise while grinding.

Hi :) Look at what crush grind have. I think the bottom fit which you use for those long grinders. I have one and I think it may work, The only trick would be to keep the mill as thin as possible. If held in R / L hand the part that turns at the bottom will be held between the plam and small finger with the other fingers doing the turning.
