I have a rosewood captains chest which has been attacked by kids toy 'slime'. My daughter left a glob on the chest, and it dissolved straight through the finish. The photo shows the dark circle where the slime attacked.
The chest comes from Pakistan, and is 15 years old - I do not know what the finish is, but it has survived every other assault on it. I expect I will have to sand back and refinish, but welcome comments.
