I have been left my Grandfathers 30 year old Sidchrome (Australian made) wall Cabinet, Its in excellent like new condition as he was kind to it, For sentimental reasons i would like to complete the missing tools and display it in my workshop as it was originally , After trying to find a photo on the net with no luck i thought i would ask here if any one could help me with a photo or original sales brochure , Any help would be much appreciated, i have attached a photo of it but not sure if it will upload.

Cheers Ant

30 year old is not so old, have you asked Sidcrome about this cabinet. They might have an catalogue or something to that effect.

Also good to see the cabinet has gone to someone that will look after it for the next generation. :2tsup:

Whats missing?
The photo dosent show much amiss.
If you intend to go to sidcrhome and get replacements that were the same you wont.
You will get replacements that they make or supply now.
If you wanted to try and get the original type of sidchrome tooling supplied in the cabinet you would have more luck at Ebay,Garage sales,Markets or any 2nd hand tool supplier.

Thats a top chest

I am sure someone last year put a similar thread up and there was a brouchure/PDF of all and sundry included. yes you can still buy all the stuff even at 2nd hand tool sales.

That torque wrench hanging on the left hand wall, it’s probably got a Sidcrome label on it. Its actually made by Norbar in the U.K. I can tell you that because I’ve had mine about that long, and the ratchet is a bit dicky. I sent it back to Sidchrome and they didn’t / wouldn’t sell service parts for it, as they don’t deal with them anymore.

a pair of pliers (not sure what they look like) and some spanners, not sure what hangs on the side hooks, or if everythings in the right spot i had to guess as everything fell off in transport, I will complete the kit with the original old school tools not the new chineese #*#@ ,

Yeah they just sit in there. My dad workshop has one, I'll see if I can take a photo when I am there next.

The second tool I ever purchased was a Norbar SL2- exactly the same as the Sidchrome SL2 before Sidchrome put the Sidchrome label on it. My ratchet is working okay, and despite (stupidly?) lending it to people I suspect don't treat tools as well as I do, the ratchet still works.

Perhaps the writing was on the wall 25 years ago when Sidchrome was starting to 'badge-engineer' torque wrenches? Now you can buy spanners from Coventry Fasteners that look remarkably like Sidchrome... f#ck the Carbon Tax, the government should have saved an true Australian!

Any way, good luck with the project.... someone needs to do it.

Could it be missing Circlip pliers from the top row.

That catalogue list is from a 15 y/o Blackwoods catalogue - if you can find a 30 y/o you are in business. I doubt the spanners etc would change much - it would be the pliers etc that will be different.

The Spanners and Sockets and associated Ratchets etc are of a different design to when they were made in australia.

I picked up a tension wrench like that one 20+ years ago for $20 at a garage sale, could not believe my luck at the time as they where worth $180 plus back then.
I still have it and look after it well.
