If I had to buy a live centre kit for my wood lathe (2MT), what would you recommend and where?

Thanks in advance.

I have been using the Oneway kit for several years. It has held up to anything I could get on my 350 mm swing lathe in the way of unbalanced heavy chunks of stump.

Yesterday I bought a slightly used Nova kit that looks good, and was considerably less $ than the Oneway. I have not run it yet, but everything fit nicely and the bearings were tight.

I'm currently looking to buy an MT2 live centre for my metal lathe, and I'll be buying from CTC Tools, on the basis of price!

(I needed a live centre yesterday, and swapped the one from my woodlathe. It worked, but wobbled visibly. At CTC prices, I'll probably buy 2 and let one live in the woodlathe)

CTC Tools Home Page (http://www.ctctools.biz/servlet/StoreFront)

search for "live" and you'll get their live centres.

I've bought from them before, as have many other folks on here.

Cheers,
Andrew

Scott,

I've got the Sorby set and am happy with it.

I have been using the Teknatool system, bought from carba-tec, for about three years now with no problems.

Although not a kit I use the Woodfast product, live centre and live hollow cup centre both are still going after 20 years

Thank you for your valuable responses gents. I'm going to see if Vermec have anything as the Nova and Sorby sets seem to have been panned.

Thanks for providing a link to the other live centre thread John, I originally did do a search for 'live centre' however came up with naught. The link you provided doesn't even appear. The results must be sorted by date rather than keyword. Now if I had of used the 'advanced search' option and selected 'search by title' then things would of been different :)

I've use the Nova about 3 years and so far no problems. I really like the ease of making speciality centers. The threaded insert is one of the bits that come with it.
