I need a chainsaw to use around my workshop, probably a 14 or 16 inch blade. The choice is electric or petrol, and I would welcome advice from anyone who has used both.
Gordon.

Hi Gordon

I'm writing this reply on behalf of a fellow club member who uses both types of saws.
He uses an 18" bar petrol in the bush and a 12" electric chain saw in the workshop or in the vicinity. And he reckons that the electric is ideal for the workshop because there is no fuel to mix or store + there are no fumes in the workshop, less noise, and generaly much more convenient.

For your reference he uses a Jonsareds petrol saw, and a McCulloch electric.

Thanks Gino. I had come to the same idea. My son has a 16inch Stihl which I can ask him to use for me in the bush and I have bought a 14 inch electric which seems to be doing the job in my workshop, mainly cutting slabs for woodturning.
