Hi all,

I have an older style Vicmarc chuck and it is quite gummed up with dust and grime. What is the best method for cleaning the chuck so that it again moves freely. Can you soak them in degreaser or pull them apart to thoroughly clean all of the components?

Looking for suggestions.

Cheers
Scott

Hi Scott
I have a vicmarc 90 chuck about 14 years old never been apart and can be operated by fingers very free movement. My maintenance consists of every few months a good squirt of Inox on all moving parts and then blow out with air gun if there is a tight spot work the chuck open and shut a few times and it will free it up the Inox doesn't leave the surface oily its based on lanolin I also use it on the bed keeps the rust away and lugs the surface.

Cheers Tony

Scott they can be pulled apart but as tony has indicated Inox works very well at freeing them up so start with that and if no good then get the manual out and pull apart, they are not too complicated.

Great, I'll give the Inox a go and if that fails I'll resort to disassembly.

Cheers for you help.
