Hello everyone, <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

I'm 14 years old and I just got started on woodturning. My parents got me a lathe for my birthday! It is a jet lathe. I'm just wondering if it’s any good? I'm also interested in turning bowls. Does anyone know if a 14" jet lathe could do the job? If anyone can give me tips on it i will greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

G'day.

What model Jet is it?

I'm not sure what you mean by a 14" lathe.

Lots of turners I know have the Jet Mini &/or the Jet pen lathe.

The Jet Mini is now available with an Electronic Variable speed.

I've turned bolwsup to about 7" across on my Jet.

I'm not sure where you are, is TX Texas?
Are there any Woodturning clubs near where you live?
If so, find out when the meet & go along, turners are mostly a friendly bunch apart from a few cranks. You will find that there will be lots of them that are willing to help you get started.
