I went up to Mum and Dads for easter. They live semi rural and rely on a wood fire.
So I often look through the firewood pile for bits of timber I can work with. So I am looking through and I found some more usable almond but under that I found some olive. It was already dried and not to cracked. So this prompted me to look for some more. I was lucky I found around 5 more usable pieces. It looks like it may have some great figure to it. Lucky me now have to come up with some ideas for turning. Happy Turning!:2tsup:

Yep, that was luck - or after the digging through more likely a well deserved and worthwhile find.

I love working Olive, the oils in the timber make it such a sweet wood to turn.

I hope you pointed out the error of their ways putting such great timber into a firewood pile!

Its hard to give them a hard time when they dont know one timber from the next but they try. They did keep me some oak (unsure of type of oak) working on that so not all bad.
