I've usually ordered the drive belts for my Record Power lathe from England. Is there somewhere in Melbourne (or online in Australia) where I can buy these. The part is a 180J4 belt.
Cheers,
Jim

G'day jimbur!
Take your belt to somewhere like Bearing Wholesalers or let your fingers do the walking or Google. There should be someone in your area who can measure and sell you a suitable belt.
Gates (http://www.gates.com/australia/) is a supplier to many outlets and for memory there are able to give you the catalogue number of an equivalent belt.

Hi Bill,
I've just emailed Naismith engineering (Northcote) as they have the size plus most others on their catalogue. If they can't sell direct I've asked for retailers they supply. Thanks for your help.
cheers,
Jim

Even better they've replied by email already and will sell over the counter at 149 Heidelberg Road, Northcote. I've organised a pick up later in the week.
Cheers,
Jim
ps. I've no connection with the firm. Just wanted to buy across here if possible instead of overseas.

I just bought a spare belt from Rydell Industrial, Moorabbin
rydell.com.au

Catalogue for drive belts : http://www.rydell.com.au/uploads/Gates%20Power%20transmission%20catalog.pdf

J230 i.e. 23" long, "J" specifies the pitch of the V's, and thickness of belt.

You specify the number of "peaks" in the belt; they just cut it off a wide piece while you wait. Mine was $20.00
