Hi everyone!

I am just about ready to start building my own outdoor table made of aluminium with folding legs. All I need to do is order materials, but I have a problem; I cannot find stainless steel folding table legs at any online shop in New Zealand that allow each leg to unfold at a 90 degree angle. So my question is: do you guys know where I can buy hinges like these in New Zealand or anywhere else with cheap shipping? And if not, do you have any other ideas that I can use for my folding table legs? I want the table legs to fold against the tabletop for portability/storage, and I want them to unfold at 90 degrees and not collapse when pushed on one side (i.e. lock at the 90 degree angle). I need to keep the cost down as much as possible as I have a limited budget for this project, and the aluminium alone is already quite expensive.

Some hinges I have found but cannot obtain due to the location of the shop:

These guys -

USA Address & Mail Forwarding (http://www.shipito.com)

Will either do assisted purchases or allow you (for a fee) to ship to them in the US and then they will forward it to you. If you have found what you want that might be the simplest way of getting them.

rookie1,

Welcome aboard............:D

Not sure if these are what you are after being nickel and not stainless - but should last all the same if treated Card Table Leg Brackets - Rockler Woodworking Tools (http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=758&site=ROCKLER)

As for freight, I've dealt with Rockler often and find them very competitive and usually a lot cheaper than most local suppliers.........importantly, delivery to Oz is often less than a week if they have them in stock.......won't hurt to drop them an email and ask......hope that helps......Lee

Thanks for the reply!
That hinge probably won't work with my table because I am going to fold an aluminium sheet to create the tabletop, which will be rectangular, therefore it won't work with the table as it won't have overhanging sides like the one in the picture. Although, I have found a matching hinge on the same website - Posi-Lock Folding Leg Bracket - Rockler Woodworking Tools (http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=5817&site=ROCKLER). I may end up buying off this site if I can't find any other solution. Do you have any suggestions?

Sorry rookie1, all my metal tables are bog standard welded with rigid braced legs and wooden tops covered in sheet metal - some learned persons have commented my welding looks like pelican droppings or words to that effect.........so in all modesty, I'm probably not the person to offer suggestions.............

That's alright... Thanks for your contribution to this thread! I'll try think of some ideas, but if I cannot think of anything I might just order from the website using Michael G's website:
