Where can I get high grit sandpapers, in USA - for 5" orbitals? Preferably velcro, but I can get a new sander if need be (stick-on.)

By high grit, I mean 600 - 4,000.

Thanks!

You should find a Festool dealer and perhaps look at their 6" ROS's. They have sanding pads for their ETS150/3 which is a 6" sander. The pads are available in higher grits of 600, 800, 1200, 1500,2000 and 4000g. The 6-1200 are normal type pads and can be "Rubin" or "Brilliant" in type, but the 2 and 4000 are called "Platin 2" pads. They are more like fabric than sandpaper and can be washed and reused. I'm not sure if the higher grits are available in a 5" (125mm) size.

Hope this helps.

Rob

Thanks, LGS.
Another question:
Can I take regular sandpaper sheets, cut a circle, and put velcro or tape or something on it ?

don't worry about the idea of making your own velcro backed paper, it will be uneven and cause issues with sanding, and leave an uneven /rippled finish.

It is better to buy the correct material straight up, FESTO materials are top line , but you can get away with hardware products for general sanding, up to 400Grit papers.

Jost Abrasives are very popular in the US, and Google should help you find them. They are very durable, good price, range of sizes & grits from 40 to 3000. The finer grits last for an astonishing amount of time. You may also have to include the spelling as Joest. TFWW used to carry them, but I'm not sure now.
