hi every one. ...ive been looking to upgrade my current pinch bars. I have a high standards for my hand tools. I used to have some great proto ones which where fantastic. Lately ive just been making do with a few no name ones i have.
i recently ordered unseen a mummy small crow bar because they were Australian made.
Its a big appointment. Way to heavy thick and just feels clumsily.
Can any one please sujestt top quality pinch bars for me?
thanks

Is it one of these you bought, 1500X30mm Pinch Bar - Hexagon | Mumme Products - Quality Forged Hand Tools (http://www.mummeproducts.com/content/1500x30mm-pinch-bar-hexagon),

I was thinking of buying one but it looks like it's got too long of a bent bit on the end, for lifting machines I want one with a short bent end:2tsup:. Maximum leverage with a short end tongue or what ever the bent bit on the end is called:D:rolleyes:.

Cheers.

600X25mm Pinch Bar - Hexagon | Mumme Products - Quality Forged Hand Tools (http://www.mummeproducts.com/content/600x25mm-pinch-bar-hexagon)
i dont like it. ive used a more slender one i liked.
this thing is as thick as a big pinch bar.
There used to be crow bars at work that were thin light and strong.
these ones seem thick and heavy.

Mummee bar.

Sorry but I've got 3 of these in different sizes and I like them. Perhaps we have different expectations of use. I've managed to bend thinner/cheaper ones.

A long time ago I made my own from some 28mm 1085 bar. I wouldn't bother doing it again though it worked quite nicely. Was great for a spud bar too once I welded a bit of scraper blade edge to the tip and ground it to shape. Plenty of mass (good for upper body workout) and cut through sandstone rocks etc without blunting all the time.

Try PT Hydraulics they are in Mount Waverley Vic 03 9562 8800 they cayy the Power Team Hydraulic range of "jimmy"bars and "pry" bars. We use the jimmy bars to move items of High voltage switchgear around nerver had any problems.

Have a look at the Power Team Hydraulic web site and it will show the items.

Hi azzrock, Does the heel offset 40 mentioned on the Mumme site mean the length of the foot, I don't think it means length as it looks longer in the pic., or is 40 the angle?.
I like a pinch bar that has the other end tapered.

I made a short pry bar years ago out of a "jack-hammer" drill, I forged the foot on the end, I use it as a pinch bar for lifting ends of light-ish to medium heavy machines using a 1300mm (4'3") long piece of gal pipe on the bar, the pipe annoys me a bit though.
Just for interest sake, here's a couple of pics of it. Anyone not interested:p,,too bad:D:rolleyes::laughing1:.

Cheers.

I called in to my local tool shop the other day and picked up one of these.

450X16mm Podger Bar - Hexagon | Mumme Products - Quality Forged Hand Tools (http://www.mummeproducts.com/content/450x16mm-podger-bar-hexagon)
it just what i wanted. Light, strong and tapered at one end. Only $25.

now i have that one and the one i thought was to heavy. It just goes to show the boss supplying all your hand tools is great as long as you dont mind not having exactly what you you want.

these index-able bars are interesting. does any body have one?
