G'day
Here's a pierced egg in camphor laurel. Overall height is 130mm , about 2mm thick at the join. Most of it's about 1-1.5 mm but a bit thicker at the ends .Finish is DO with wipe on poly on the inside.
Hope you like it

Ted,

Very nice work.

What method/system did you use for the pierced work please.

Thanks for the comments
Ray It was glued together.

skewturn It took me the best part of a day and then about 5 coats of DO a day apart.

dr4gonfly I drilled a 2mm pilot hole for each piercing then enlarged it with a Dremal look alike, an Ozito ,using a small cone shaped carbide burr .I then spent ages with a tiny file cleaning up the furry edges .It was not untill I looked at the fullscreen blowup of the photo that I could see how much I had missed . Maybe I had better use a magnifying glass next time .
