First time ever working with Sycamore, fourth ever bowl... 98mm high, 100mm wide, wall thickness approx 2.5-3mm finished with melamine lacquer and Fiddes wax polish. Fits lovely in the hands a beautiful bit of wood and very tactile :D

Comments as always appreciated....

It's well spalted, sycamore is a pale bland wood although good for turning, this grain pattern is stunning.

My first thought was a natural edges bowl but the grain says otherwise, so what made you treat the rim the way you have.

I do like the effect of the piece, well done.

Thanks... It's a lovely piece of wood. To be honest I had a big dig-in as I was shaping near to the rim and rather than cut it down I decided to carve the edge. Glad you like it... its the best bowl I've made so far in my opinion. I have a bit more of this so looking forward to making a few more.
