Good Evening All

Please find enclosed a Jarrah platter I turned for a friend who was leaving Defence. It is approximately 40cm across and finished with 10 coats of Danish oil.

It was a pleasure to turn as he had provided good advice and assistance to me at work for many years.

The engraving was done by another mate at JARRAHLASERDESIGN here in Perth.

I received a call from the recipient who was very happy with it

Cheers

Very cool Willy! :2tsup:

Question: Did the finish go on before or after the engraving???

I like this idea. I do a lot of 'Beckets' - wooden inserts for polished brass 105mm Howitzer Shells that have been engraved up for the recipient.

Maybe a Cap Badge laser etched on the top - I'll have to look into this - thanks for the idea.

I can well understand why this was appreciated by the recipient, well done.

Vern
I usually apply a few coats of the sanding sealer, then a couple of Danish oil, then get it engraved. After it is engraved, I continue to coat the Danish oil onto the platter, which really sets off the engraving, both the burnt timber and the Jarrah

As a wood turner i love your work, as an ex service man ( ARMY) I am jealous , the platter is beautiful and a credit to you and the Laser cutting company.
