Found this in the garden, it is always wet-look

Otherwise, does anyone have any idea what it is?

If its petrified it will have all the characteristics of stone.

Looks like plain old wood to me.... petrified wood is stone.... it's a fossil of a tree....

true that, any idea why it would always have that "wet" look?

You beat me to it coffenup.

If it was a piece of petrified wood, I doubt you would be able to shift it very far.

Interesting item all the same.

It is quite likely to be Eucalyptus Petriwetti; looks petrified and feels wet.

All a bunch of coproliths to me. Couple of judicious cuts with a hand saw could explain a lot.
