View Full Version : Butterfly Natural edge vase.

I have never attempted a natural edge form before and after sorting out some branches of a Brazilian Cedar that I had cut down from the front garden before it got too big I thought that it offered the opportunity to experiment with a bit of thin wall turning and some piercing. Here is the result. Size: approx. 180mm h x 80 dia.

Approx. 2mm on average.

From the title I was expecting a winged bowl, the images quite caught me by suprise.

I think you've created a winner there, It really is beautiful, Care to expand on the texturing effect etc.

Thanks for all your comments it was a fun experiment. Texturing was done with a small round burr in a Dremel, piercing with a high speed dentist tool, a bit of pyro around the butterflies, airbrush, brush and watercolour pencils.Then a spray lacquer......cheers Kerry

Mick, the feet were cut out with a reciprocating carver and shaped with a Dremel.....Cheers Kerry
