H i all a Red Ivory bowl / box with Leadwood finial I made for a swap on another forum. I also added a alternative finial a warthog tooth as both the finials can screw on and off. Box 100mm h 112 w Finial 128mm long Finish numerous coats of Woodoc 10 a Polywax velvet varnish applied by hand with a piece of old t shirt a new little piece for each coat. Used the dry small piece of cloth as abrasive between the first 4 coats. All c & c welcome Regards Roger C

I really like the warthog toothed finial, the other one does not quite fit the bowl, seems a little heavy - but that's just my opinion.

The Red Ivory is beautiful though - well done.

wow thats nice :2tsup: will have to agree the final is too top heavy and the wathog tusk looks great

Like that red ivory..... I agree the finila looks a bit too "heavy".

Ditto for the tooth! :2tsup: Lovely woods too. We get so bored just seeing our native stuff. What does "leadwood" look like while it is growing! :U I guess it pretty heavy.:D

Thank you dr4gOnfly, mkpenturner, powderpost, Christos ,dai sensei, artme and tea lady for your comments really appreciated. I agree the finial a tad to heavy . Tea lady the lead wood is a very dark brown, hard as nails and heavy. Leadwood was used for hoe blades before introduction of metals. Trees are long lived and some estimated 1000yrs and older. Botanical name Comberum imberbe
