I know that Ripsaws are designed to cut parralel to the grain, and crosscut saws are designed to cut at a right angle to the grain. But what are the physical differences between them. I need to classify different types of saws into the two catergories and im not sure how to classify them.
Thanks

This topic has been covered a number of times on the board before. A search will reveal a lot of information to wade through.
Some information is also available here;

and about a guzzillion others. Oh BTW, this read is likely to develop legs to somewhere other than the woodturning section:D
Have fun, cheers
