Was good and interesting. I learnt lots as well.
#1 chainsaws are a bugger to start.
#2 sawdust in eyes is a bugger.
#3 termites can bugger a nice piece of wood.

All good.

:no:I think he is actually. But I do need smaller stuff at home cos a big lathe won't fit in my shed. Other than that I have no idea what you are talking about. :p

The last slab I cut had termites in it. Any sugestions? Will they die? Migrate? Spray with something nasty?

If left they can migrate now they have been majorly disturbed ;) Some would say some sort of insecticide, me being rather narcissistic (so the psychs recon ;) would place the wood near a big black ant nest ;) (I do this as it is actually better for the environment (I try not to use things that are bad for the environment where possible)

Hi Tea Lady,

I have an advantage of working in my carport, I can get a lathe with a bed length up to around 3m :) Only problem would be lack of power and no where to store it ;) (is why I bought a bench top midi lathe (bed with extension is just under 1m :)

I cut open the infected wood. All termites are dead. They were alive when we first cut the log. must be the weather.
