Does anyone know if there are Copper Bangle Core's available in Australia such as the following?

Copper Bangle Cores (http://www.bangleguy.com/catalog/item/8465189/9283964.htm)

Not really keen on purchasing for $26ea.

If not available here, is there anywhere someone can recommend other than above?

Ta in advance :)

If you could get the sort of prices he's asking for the finished product it might be worth it but I don't think so. Surly they could not be that hard to make. Why not try a posting in the metalwork section?

Scott, I contacted the Bangle guy, Eric, about getting a copy of their tutorial for making the metal bangles and he advises that from September Pops Shed in Melbourne (http://popsshed.com.au/) will be stocking the Wildwood bangle kits.

Will have a look at them when in stock to see if they would be fun to make provided it's not too expensive.

Thanks Peter! I was there (Pop's Shed) last week and enquired about the bangles and showed them Eric's website. Looks as though Brian has ordered some :)

How do you get the wood onto the rims?

Just finished printing out the 14 page PDF instructions on how to make them and it shows that the metal core is made of two inter sliding parts. You glue the timber onto one and then glue the second rim inside that.

Kind of explains the cost as the machining has to be very accurate.

My sister ordered one of his "kits", the copper core and a piece of stabilized wood. I haven't a clue as to what she paid, but I got the honor of putting it all together. It is a work of art, as a rough guess, I think they would sell for close to a 100 US dollars at a good art show. These are definitely not a craft item for a craft show. When finished they are real nice pieces of jewelry. Sorry, no photos, I gave it to my sister before my wife could see it and told her to keep her mouth shut.

One would think that the wearer would end up with a verdigris stain on their arm!
