I've not long arrived in Tasmania, just about finished unpacking into a very old house (built 1830) where I was able to set up a small workshop in the front room amongst the unpacked boxes and stuff stored until we find our own bit of Tas. I hope to one day build a wookshop of my own but in the meantime I'm trying to gather some of the things I reckon I'll need. 1. Drill Press. 2. Band Saw. 3. Planer/Thicknesser.
I suppose I could keep going with the tool/equipment list but I'm also trying to keep my tool list basic but of the highest quality that I can afford. If anyone out their can help with any information regarding purchasing either second hand or new equipment mentioned above I would greatly appreciate it. I'm currently in the novice category as far as woodworking skill goes but have always had a passion for woodworking and have now turned more of my intention to it. I have been lucky to have been given my fathers tools as a good start to my toolkit, mainly old chisels and planes but essential basics to a good kit. Also I am eager to get involved with wooden boat building and would offer help (if I could be) to any historical or modern wooden boat building projects.
Hope to hear from someone?
