Hello folks,

I have an old Tanner FS100 lathe that is a solid as a rock. It is fitted with an outboard spindle but I do not have the accessories to do outboard turning.

The spindle is 1-3/6" x 6 TPI LH and the inboard spindle is 1-1/2" x 6 R - cannot fathom why both spindles are not the same size:C.

Anyway, I need either:
a chuck that will fit the 1-3/8" 6 tpi, or
an adapter to allow me to use my standard chuck.
Any ideas??

Give Vermec a call, they do pretty good work. I have a couple of their spindle adaptors, & one custom made to suit a specific application.

Maybe they were different sizes to suit bearing design & replacement?

Vicmarc make an chuck insert (http://www.vicmarc.com/default.asp?contentID=686) for your size, so your favourite turning retailer , say Pops Shed, Carbatec or Carrolls, can get it in for you.
