If you can get hold of Australian Wood Review no. 33 it has some salad servers which have been laminated from 0.6mm veneers, bent into shape. Worth a look.

Why do they have to be turned?

because I have cuttlery blanks, a pile of good turning blanks I cant jump over and I'm back on the lathe after quite some time away.

i made some by first making a temp of the fork as it would look on the flat or plane view then marked tha onto my turning blank [ about100mm by 200mm by 30 ] then turned the handle and the rest to the end of the fork [mind the fingers on the flat  ] .
then i cut the fork part out on the bandsaw then sat it on its edge and cut a curved shape in the front and back . it took some time but a pair looks and works good :U
.

Gee, been a while since I made some, but here they are. Obviously I had a fetish for knobs on the ends back then
