Anybody heard any more about this lathe coming into production etc.

Heard some distant whispers. Interesting looking beast.

Very interesting, appears to have a very stout outboard spindle stub.

I expect one would need to be sitting down and near water when inquiring about the cost.

Not sure if I get what they are achieving with the bed gap in that position.... must be a spindle turners lathe

And, am I right in seeing VL600 on the headstock and VL500 on the stand. Maybe it doesn't know what it is either.

Looks to me like the tailstock support thingy can crank sideways, so I assume the bed can close up for shorter spindles and lengthen for long ones.

I suspect the bed next to the headstock can be rotated to the rear of the lathe which enables the other bed to be cranked up towards the headstock for large faceplate work.

Cheers

Think I can see a bit of Stubby lathe in it.

If that's the case, they now have my attention!!!

Interesting. I am not sure, but I would have thought it was for bowl turners, but I cannot see how the left hand side bed might move out of the way.
If was purely a bowl turning lathe, I would love to do a review on it, Hint hint!!

There is a dealer up here for Vicmarc and he has not heard of it. Looks great to me.

Ahh, the second photo makes more sense. Since this has been around for several years, I wonder why there hasn't been a review by a Famous Turner.

I put Vicmarc VL600 into Google and came up with several forum speculations with the same 2 photos plus 1 variation.

Just to further confuse things, Vicmarc has a VL600 that they are "someplace" in the introduction phase.
Some photos of the prototype got posted to all the forums a couple of years ago

Tough choice, they are both great firms

With that massive headstock and the swing-away bed it looks a little like they're going for the Hegner VB36 dedicated bowl-lathe capacity & versatility. I want one.

Crumbs with all that dev't subsidy it's taking them some time!

Maybe it's the strength of the Aussie dollar.

From a cursory eyeball, in design terms it improves on the S1000 with an integral headstock 2ndary bed. Good move. Bolt-on was tedious.

I agree, but after my time in R&D, the amount you spend developing never seems to have any effect on going to market with the item.

And the good news is there will be good news soon.

Will keep all informed.:2tsup:
