G'Day Fellas,
Like most asian lathes of it's era mine came with the usual ball ended knobs on the gearbox, tumbler and backgear controls, while they have a certain old world charm they are nearly impossible to grip with oily hands, I finally got around knocking up a new set based loosely on the Hercus 260 design, much betterer.

They look really good:2tsup:

The black knobs may have an "old world charm" but my Leblond at nearly 100 years old has nothing but knurled and turned knobs.......no plastic to be seen

Looks very neat !

Did you use carbide tooling for that shiny finish, or did you buff them ?

G'Day Mike,
I only use carbide for heavy roughing, finish cut with radiused HSS knife tool, touch up with 300 grit wet & dry, final polish with Autosol metal polish.

Martin
