Quite some years ago I owned a small chain mortiser made by Tough (? )and if my memory serves me correctly this company was from West Aussie - does anyone know if they still exist and do they make this bench sized chain mortiser ?
Regards
Rod

Rod. I think Tough went out of business some years ago. "The Woodsmith" in Bayswater Vic. aquired the rights to manufacture their wood turning lathe, and still do. I don't know about other products in the range. The Woodsmith has a web site at www.thewoodsmith.com.au. (http://www.thewoodsmith.com.au.) and may be able to help with the info. you require.

Gooday.

A mean beast of a machine that uses a chain around a bar similar to a chain saw for cutting mortises in timber.

Used mainly for production cutting of mortises.

Makita used to have one model within their collection of tools.Last time I was in Melbourne at a WWW show they had one on their stand.
Tough have been out of business for some years now since their foundry shut down in Belmont/Perth and the the lathe operations or license sold off.
