View Full Version : White Aluminium Oxide Grinding Wheels - is 60 grit OK in the absence of 46 grit?

Hi,

I went up and down Beijing Road today, white aluminum oxide grinding wheels are easy to get, but the coarsest is 60 grit.

Would that be OK for doing plane blades and chisels? It'd much more convenient and cheaper for me to get one of these rather than import a Norton white wheel.

Cheers.

IMHO - Sounds good to me Russel, but also a very fine grit for finishing might be the go!!??

Hi Crowie,

Cheers for the reply. I may have been a bit unclear above, I wasn't planning to grind on a 60 grit and be done with it!

The grinding wheel will be the first step, after that I'll use some waterstones/ceramic stones of progressively finer grits.
