Just another mag transfer block..

Nothing is ever quite as much fun as watching the shaper cast it's magic spell... Flattening a Mag Transfer Block - YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gSq4eF9r10)

After the clean-up, Josh has finished grinding all faces square.

The purpose behind this transfer block is to be able to grind a 0.5 degree taper in the firmer chisels.

At the moment it's all square and parallel ... the next step is to grind a 0.5 degree taper..

The laminations are oven soldered as before, and the brass threaded rod is peened into a countersink on both ends.

Ray, did you ever sort out the furnace brazing paste or are you still using solder?

Hi Michael,

I'm still using the electronic type solder paste, it works pretty well, but I'm still interested in furnace brazing as a technique to develop further when I can get the right stuff to experiment with.

For this job the brass rods are probably enough just by themselves as far as strength goes. Soldering the parts together is probably a bit of overkill... not that I've ever shied away from overkill :)
