I have posted a couple of sites for tuning handplanes in the TIPS forum but was wondering whether any of you folk out there have tuned your handplanes using any different methods than that which is apparent?

There is an in depth article on this which may be in one of the Fine Woodworking magazines and a better reference possibly than the two I posted but I cannot recall when or where I saw it.

In regards to metal planes, some require a fair bit of attention before you can have them "sing" in application and there are differing views in this regard.

The view that we are an easily persuaded society in regards to power tool usage averse to hand tools because of the time taken in the employment and regular means required to do so seems justified these day's and apart from woodturners and carvers who use their tools with a fair degree of skill it is with these thoughts in mind that I am looking to refurbish all my metal planes to reasonable standard.
