I was asked by Brent Beach to pass on information about his Blade Sharpening Survey.

Go to http://www3.telus.net/BrentBeach/Sharpen/Survey05.html

Here is a little infoprmation off Brent's website:

The Goal
How well the blades work is one half of the sharpening process. The other is how people sharpen their blades.
The next stage in my study of plane irons is to look at various sharpening systems to determine how well the various sharpening systems work. I will be comparing the appearance (under the microscope) of the blades and their durability, for a number of different sharpening systems.

It makes sense to study first the most common systems.

The goal of this survey is to establish the relative popularity of sharpening systems.

The Results
I will be compiling the results and publishing them on my web page. I expect to let the survey run until the middle of April. I will be summarizing the results weekly and posting them right away.
The results will be anonymous - counts for each method. Where methods or explanations are considered for inclusion in the survey results, I will contact you beforehand and show you the way it will appear in the results, before using anything you supply in the survey.

The Lure
Depending on the number of people completing the survey, I will be awarding a number of my jigs - these will be Maple and will handle irons up to 2-3/8". I will randomly select survey participants who indicate they would be interested in a jig and email them in mid-April to get their mailing address.

Go to Brent's website for the survey, complete it, and be part of a worthwhile woodworking endeavour. http://www3.telus.net/BrentBeach/Sharpen/Survey05.html
