I think the heading should be GMC take over (the world) note that there are jobs available in North America now... soon we'll be able to buy GMC stuff through Lee Valley!!

Cheap junk with great service!! Now there's a turnip for the books!

midge - your browser hasn't refreshed and you are seeing the normal gmc website.

Revisit the gmc website and pres ctrl-f5, and you should get the winko website instead.

It looks to me like they have a problem on their server. Some of us will be seeing a cached version from up to a day ago and some of us will see the new version.

I think winko may be the company that makes gmc tools

Having poked around the site a bit, I post the following as a matter of interest, not complaint or bitching!!

Reading between the lines (because I can't read the characters on them!), the Taiwanese parent company has equity in a factory development in China to take advantage of lower costs.

The snip is from one of the pages, exchange rate today is roughly 400yuan to $60.00 AUD.

Anyone have a factory for rent at 5-8y per square metre?

Cheers,

P

Bazza,

I dont see the Winko (whatever) link/logo only GMC even after refreshing five odd times. Just wanted to see the Minatek link Gumby mentioned.

Winko seems like a monument to some corporate ego
I wonder how long afore GMC brand vanishes totally as winko don't seem interested in maintaining the established brand.
So they start fresh in the market with an unfamilar name like winko.
Doesn't seem prudent business practise to abandon the GMC goodwill.
maybe the name oughta be wanko.

OR have to only pay Tech's 800 yuan or $120 per month!!!!

To my limited knowledge, GMC is an Oz company isn't it?

Didn't one of the director's buy his ride in the "celebrety" race at the recent Melbourne GP?

Of course all their stuff is made in China. You sure can't make a $39 router in Oz (or any developed country for that matter).

that's a serious cyclone dust extractor :D  Thats only a liddle one, at work our dust extractor fan is about 3 storys high and the outlet is 206m high in the air, were a bit worried about running 6" ducting on it!
Id take some pic's, but they wont allow us to take camera's in...

As I posted earlier, I think the problem was just a server administration one and their is some replationship between winko and gmc, either:
winko is the company who make the gmc tools
winko are either parent comapny of gmc,
winko and gmc are both owned by the same person
or maybe just their websites are both hosted on the same server and it defaults to winko.com if gmcompany.com is unavailable.

Personally, I think the same bloke is also an owner (part-owner?) of gmc - the main reason I say that, is because a whois of www.gmcompany.com gives Anker Hung of Winko as the registered owner of the domain. He also owns a number of other australian companies including minatek with the big dust extractor.

The reason why some of us saw the change and some didn't is due to the ISP we use and not whether we use IE or whatever. Some ISPs cache websites locally on their own servers for a number of days for performance purposes and display that rather than getting the information from the real server every time. ctrl-f5 will flush it if the website is cached locally on your pc.

The winko website is still available at:
http://www.winko.com/

The dust extractor is here:
http://www.winko.com/minatek.htm - ano

Just a bit of advice, never buy cheap battery drills. You might get away with cheap 240 volt equipment if your lucky but not battery drills.

Well as I don't know you and have never had any contact with you, I'm at a loss to understand what you've got against me.

However, as you probably have the attention span of a gnat, I expect you'll go away soon.

In the meantime, I'll just ignore you.

How's that?

I don't expect that you'll survive anyway, so run along and play now little boy.

yes craig, it's impressive how you can be a midget dick and the biggest tool at the same time
