At least in 1926 they understood the use of machinery guards!

Brendan, the video is good, conscise and great documentation of a precious bit of our turning heritage.

Brendan,

an interesting video, and raises a couple of questions. Part way through (when it shows the stationary cutters) the caption says they need to be set up by a skilled machinist, is that Wolf or... well, where you find someone who can do that theses days?, and

It's a Hammer Lathe, to me hammer handles are elliptical in cross section, does it (did it) have a cam action to create this shape although now not used or possible removed?

Thanks for the work you put into the video as said, that's another bit of our crafts history recorded.
