had a go at barley twist by hand, pleased with the out come timber is unknown it came with a pack of pine at work

Very nice doesn't look like Pine to me :no: to red whats the scent like.??

Did you make the cup at the top and can we have a photo of that please.?

There is some very crisp detail in that and the hand work for the twist is excellent - well done.

You don't give dimensions though.

thankyou and sorry! it's about 200mm high and largest diameter is 75 mm. it turns really nice had the pig tail shavings! it's a very light pink and darker growth rings no scent; I'll sand it again and have a good smell! the cup I bought at the reject shop and turned the timber to suit profile then 2 pak epoxy. This timber was used for the steel straps and to keep the timber pack off the floor! one guy at work thought it was cherry either way it was a great score

we got more timber today it's called NOTHOFAGUS MENZIESII originally called silver beech, also called maple & cherry beech! from New Zealand. can't believe they are using it for packers on pine packs!
