Nonsense!
These myths are very prevalent through out the tool collecting world.
However there is some truth to this one, but the seller of that plane is just mistaken, that plane is is a genuine Norris.

There is some basis for the "Whyalla" tool making story.
Here is a copy of the Stanley #51 & 52 shute board & plane and a huge bevel gauge made by A. W . Renalson, Whyalla, 1942.
They are fantastically well made tools, but it is instantly obvious they are user made.

I wondered ... the wooden parts sure look standard ...

Then I thought maybe they just assembled all the parts there ... but what would be the point of that!?!
