Looking for some ideas for destinations in Oz
flying from melbourne
I want to fish
Wife wants to lie in hammock under palmtree next to beach/pool and read
couple of weeks stay
I have looked on web at NT and the Qld islands and its quite hard to get a real idea on what they are like
so I am hoping that there are some personal recommendations out there

Not too many "hammock under palmtree next to beach/pool" places in NT from my experience. Maybe something like that in the Kakadu "resorts".

Go for FNQ. I've always preferred mainland and daytrip or overnight to reefs and islands. They have timber for sale on the mainland.

Its a bit late in the piece, only found this section of the Forum a few nights back. Check out the Eco Restorts South of Broome in West Oz. Spend some time at one of them before they were blown away in a big cyclone a few years back, have been rebuilt since, perfect place for you to fish and your missus to laze in the hammock.
