Yeah I was thinking the same, would get a lot of movement as it dried I reckon,
Nice size curlies he had there as well :D

He should have thats Kiwi turner Soren Berger using his own design hollowing tool. Soren Berger hollowing box tool shaft and tip only (http://www.timberlywoodturning.co.nz/products/%28A4%29-Soren-Berger-Shaft-and-Tip-Only-.html) The wood has to be green to turn his lamp shades that thin. If you get a chance to see him turn its well worth your time.

I don't think there will be much movement in that, no matter how wet it was when turned - the sides are so thin and there is no base to warp or check.

I reckon he's got a big pair, cutting that off the way he did and catching it.
