It is 8 months since I did a segmented job. The patterned top section has been floating around the workshop for about two years It was supposed to have been a clock face, but it only had ten segments, maybe it could have been a metric clock?????. Made from black bean and silver ash, it measures 250mm diameter and 150mm high. It is not yet finished as I was trying to dodge the reflections. It will be sprayed with lacquer and buffed with EEE. C and C as usual are always welcome, there is always room for improvement.

Terrific effort Powderpost. Patience is a virtue. I think it would have worn me down over 8 months.
My interest span is about 1 month, as long as I have several projects on the go at the same time. Drillit.

Jim how did get permission off LOYL to spend that much time in the shed...........or was it a case of only place you were aloud??:U

As always a beaut work well planned out and executed Like the Blackbean obviously you have no problem working it. I found my two boards yesterday and have noted in big RED letters "wear a mask" on it

Thank you gentlemen for the comments. I think you have miss understood my comments in the post. It only took four days to make, but eight months to get back into segmenting. :)

Jim, you're a master in segmented work, in creating beautiful shapes as well as in patterns. This is a real eye catcher.

8 months for a young bloke like yourself ?
Were you using a treadle lathe?
Or was the apprentice not turning the hand cranked lathe at the rite revs?

There is this thing called power it's a little new and only in some parts of the country
and I'm told its going to do wonders for woodturning lmao :q

PP, It was fantastic to see your work again at Turnfest & it sure drew some big compliments sitting on the IG table down there. The quality of the joinery and your flawless finishes are right up there with the very best segmenters. You are a tough judge of your own work. Sincerely hope your work sees a much wider audience because its a little more than "pretty OK."
