Haven't posted any of my work up here for a while but thought this one worthy of a look. I've never tried to follow the outer curve of a blank to leave a line of sapwood all the way round the outside with no sapwood showing on the inside but sometimes wondered if it might happen one day - and it did!!! :U Sally wattle from my daughters yard and off the top of me 'ed it would be about 300x170ish! Originally planned to carve the foot into feet but then I would have lost the line of sapwood - and it's only going to some bl00dy Victorian anyway :;:U

Nice one, what did you finish it with?
I love the side grain in Sally Wattle, the end grain can be a bit of a bugger.

Oh to 'Fluke' one like that - beautiful effect. Does Sally Wattle have any other names as both the heartwood grain and sapwood colour resemble what I know as laburnium?

That bowl is about as beautiful as I am ever going to see! And that first photo is about as classy a presentation as I have ever seen. Cheers Harry
