Dad expects me to do the job but he was planning on supplying a nail gun for the job.
I know nothing about nail guns and was wondering if you can turn them down enough to not go straight through the weather boards. I have seen framing guns do two thicknesses and the bards will attach to one thickness.
Also what sort of compressor is needed or are they all battery powered now??
as you can see i really have no idea what I'm talking about:doh:

T Nailer
Decking & Fencing Gun
Finishing Nailer
Are any of them multi purpose??
Would like the gun to be useful for other jobs after this is done. Maybe framing a carport or shed, building a deck, etc. I didn't realise there were so many models just from one manufacturer or they were so specialised.

The model number that I've got is SFN1 (http://www.senco.com/Documents/Manuals/SFN1_NFD829_7_14_98.pdf) but it's now a discontinued model. Not surprising as I've bought all my guns (framing, finishing, bradder and staple) 25 years ago.
Although it was expensive at the time they are quality items and lasted all this time and no doubt will last a lot longer, unlike the cheap crap now made.

ajay123 3rd May 2013, 11:11 PM T nailer usually for weather boards, the bigger head holds the soft boards better. finish gun only on smaller bits you're worried about splitting. T nails are getting hard to find now though. I hear a lot of blokes are using a coil nailer nowdays.

Hell no! He wouldn't have a clue how to hit a nail….He can only hit white dimply balls with a long stick! Which is fine by me, because when he is playing golf is when I can get in the garage and on the tools.
specialist 4th May 2013, 08:17 PM Give addems air tools (http://www.addemsairtools.com.au/) a call, they seem to sell all manner of nailgun and everytime I have contacted them, they have known exactly what I was after. Just a quick look at their website revealled a couple T nailers which is what I would use for weather boards.
nrb 6th May 2013, 04:53 PM IMO using a hammer and nails on large areas of weather boards would have the potential to loosen internal plaster,if you don't think this is an issue ,fine.
But using a gun would be my first pick as it is very quick and will not disturb anything.
I have used a finishing gun on nails on decking and they have been down for years,just make sure they are gal.
You can get finish guns for not a lot of $$,as I mentioned make sure you can get gal.nails to suit.:2tsup:
