I have access to some wood from felled trees at work. ( had to make room for the new bosses helicopter ) http://ubb.ubeaut.com.au/ubb/rolleyes.gif
Some Iron Bark and Sugar Gum trunks available to myself.
Are these timbers any good for turning ?

Dunno 'bout sugar gum but ironbark is one of my favorite woods. I started out turning ironbark (turned half the woodheap one winter). The stuff is tough as you would inagine and bloody heavy, but works reasonably well and is so tight grained it takes a high finish very easily. If you have been given freshly cut timber make sure to quarter the logs and seal the endgrain well, store it away somewhere out of the rain and sun but with some airflow around it.
Most Australian eucalypts can be a bit of a bugger to season without degrade.
Better still rough turn the stuff before it has a chance to split warp and turn itself inside out.
Hope this was of some help, I'd reckon someone else here will be able to tell you more about the sugar gum.
