Hi

A suggestion in a old edition of MEW grabbed my attention. The writer wrote that, for those who cannot afford or justify buying a expensive granite surface plate, a glass plate will suffice for most hobby workshops . They suggest mounting the plate in a wooden frame of some kind . Maybe an old mirror from the op shop would be ideal :oo:

We have been here before. To save extra typing have a look at http://www.woodworkforums.com/f65/surface-plate-substitutes-153083/.

I am not putting you off at all Mike. Just have a read of my thread first.

Cheers
